Competition math excellence and creative problem solving.
Exclusive program for students with demonstrated skills and focus.
For advanced students in grades 7-9, the Challengers Elite program focuses on honing the skills needed to thrive on the path towards university, and in competition mathematics such as CEMC’s Gauss and Pascal contests, or the MAA’s AMC8 contest.
We will work with the core concepts of algebraic thinking, 2D and 3D geometry, patterning, number theory, probability, and exponents, to deepen students’ understanding and ability to apply in increasingly complex problems.
Classes balance skill development with application. We will often be working ahead of grade, and new concepts will be explored at a pace that caters to each individual child.
Each class will have one or two broad focus areas, such as 3D geometry, or algebra. Competition math problems and skills development will be selected from this focus area to enhance understanding of application.
Competition math challenges leverage the tools a student has learned in order to challenge them with increasingly difficult problems.
We will select competitive math challenges that are representative of math contests such as CEMC’s Gauss and Pascal contests, or the MAA’s AMC8 contest.
Problems in the Challengers Elite program will often be difficult and beyond what has been taught in school.
Solutions will require resilience, creativity, and persistence.
We will explore methods for approaching difficult challenges that at first seem unsolvable.
If you think your child would benefit from the Challengers Elite program, and has already developed the core mathematical skills for their grade level, let’s chat.
Our 30 minute evaluation will give you a better understanding of the Challengers Elite program, and will give us an understanding of whether your child will thrive in the program.
Strong students can move from the regular Challengers program to Challengers Elite (or vice versa), at any time if both tutor and student feel that the move is the right one.
Schedule Evaluation
In the Challengers Elite program we will explore units in algebra, probability, exponents, speed, scientific notation, 2D and 3D geometry, and more.
Focused practice targets areas that have been identified as weak for each individual kid. Competition math problems are explored to apply math knowledge creatively.
Each session is 45 minutes, and students will usually do around 50 math problems.
Each week you will receive a detailed summary of your child’s progress, and any areas they are struggling with. Week over week, you’ll see their growth as a young mathematician.
We don’t require homework to be done between sessions. If students are interested, the Mobius practice area provides questions on topics they find challenging. Practice earns Mobius money, which can be spent on add-ons within math-powered activities for even more enjoyment.
We understand that kids' lives are busy. If you ever need to reschedule a session, change to another day of the week, or add a sibling you have complete control in the Mobius Parent Portal. Manage your child or children’s schedules, see their results, and manage your account.
